School Displays

The WA Birds of Prey Centre has been providing Education through Entertainment since 2004.  It is an exciting and informative way to be up close and personal with natures top predators.

This educational talk combined with a visual display is a stimulating way to teach your students on Birds of Prey within our environment. This presentation not only allows students to see a variety of birds up close, but also helps the students to identify birds of prey, learn about their diet and where they can be found in Australia. It also gives the students an insight on how unique these birds are, what role they play in our environment and how susceptible they are to human activity.

Each school incursion (we come to your school) or excursion (you come to us) is tailored to suit the school and year group. We have a range of displays targetting different educational outcomes, and a range of activities to choose from, such as cast dissection or crafts (making birds).

Depending on the type of display, we do offer hands on with the birds giving children the opportunity to hold and touch the birds.  This ensures a lasting impression.

Displays

  • Introduction into Birds of Prey
  • All about the Owls
  • Cast Dissection Activity

1hr Static Presentation. (Student numbers 50– 500)

This is a presentation conducted at the front of the students using a variety of birds displayed on a perch or glove. We do bring along 5 different species for the display.

1hr Interactive Presentation (Students 5 – 50, ideally 25 students)

This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with Natures Top Predators. A more personalised presentation with the birds displayed on the glove during the introduction, followed by hands on with a few of the birds. So for the brave and strong there will be the opportunity to hold and feel the Wedge-tailed Eagle and Brown Falcon. A fantastic opportunities for you to take photo’s of the students holding one of the birds.

Cast Dissection Activity

This is a hands on activity that pulls apart the undigested material the bird cough back up.  Sounds disgusting but the students love it. We bring along all equipment and clean up as well. Additional time is required and depending on students numbers may require 30-60min.

Cost for the 1hr display is $300 inc GST. Discounts for multiple bookings.
